Utah's Choice Trees

The importance of trees in the landscape cannot be overstated. Trees help to define the character of a landscape. Although more costly initially, trees are a good investment because they are long-lasting and give permanence to the landscape. They offer shade, shelter and beauty, whether in the wild or in a garden setting. Trees are either deciduous or evergreen. They provide four-season interest. Their size at maturity should be a major consideration in their use and placement. Trees native to our region will withstand our harsh conditions and will flourish in your landscape. The six trees listed below are arranged roughly in order of their preferred habitats from high desert to montane.
