Intermountain Choice Natives. Perennials

Perennials provide the color and diversity we associate with wild flowers--flowers we see in desert bloom in early spring, in mid-summer on a hike through the foothills and canyons  or in late summer bloom in sub-alpine meadows. These herbaceous plants, called perennials because they return every year, bloom from earliest spring to very late fall, depending upon the habitats in which they grow. There are eighteen perennials in the Intermountain Choice Natives program representing many of the diverse habitats found in Intermountain West. The range of conditions for these Utah's Choice plants is wide--from full sun, no water and poor soils to shady sites, dry or wet. The eighteen plants listed below are arranged according to their preferred habitats from dry desert conditions to montane habitats.
