This sturdy little plant is an excellent choice for waterwise gardens throughout our region. It features a compact growth form with pretty, inch-wide golden daisies on slender stems above a mound of bright green, threadlike foliage. It blooms for a long time from early through late summer on a minimum of water and is quite versatile in the garden, as long as the soil is well-drained. It occurs throughout our region as well as in the desert Southwest and the western Great Plains. It looks beautiful planted with spring-blooming penstemons like Utah and thickleaf penstemon and with other mounding perennials like silver daisy, fiesta buckwheat, and silver buckwheat. Sundancer daisy does best at wide spacing and does not compete well with grasses. It is a moderate self-seeder. This plant is widely used in public plantings in road medians and city strips in the Southwest and is a proven survivor under these conditions.
